“A Cup of Cold Coffee, Yesterday’s Mail”

Wow… it’s been a long time… I can hardly believe it!
Well, I’m definitely back in New York now and have been for the past few weeks. I miss the beach quite a bit, but until I can afford to move all of my things, find a job, and get my own place, the beach will only be a place I can visit for a while.
I have been working though at some horse shows with the photography company that I worked for last year. It’s really been fun and I’m learning a lot. We spent four or five days in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania working long hours and sleeping maybe four per night but it was totally worth it. We stayed busy at the show, especially during the last day, and I learned a lot. Besides, Appaloosa shows are always fun to go to!
I got a new bike today that will probably lead to more adventuring this upcoming week when the weather’s nice. Of course, there should be some photographs coming along the way sooner or later of such adventures. I still have some from Key Largo, but they haven’t been developed yet… and I’ve got some black and whites from my cheap-o lomography fish-eye camera that I need to develop down in my basement.
But yes, I am alive and am sorry for the lack of update to anyone who might actually be checking (thanks by the way!). More photographs and writings to come soon!

… that Walmart really is evil.

I was looking at my statement and found this waiting for me. If this isn’t proof, I don’t know what would be. Haha.

I’ve got photographs, and have had little jobs, and have done and seen so many things to share about… but my first senior semester is EATING ME ALIVE!!! As soon as I’m out of school… I plan on updating… a lot.

While I’m in Florida right now trying to get warm, only not really get that much warmer, I promised some Spanish Moss photos from Savannah. Here they are.
We’re going camping tomorrow and then I will most likely update after that.

And just a random photo of the swamps that I’m quickly falling in love with.

Normally I would be slightly embarrassed (yes, only slightly) to post this photo of myself on my blog… but not today. Though my week has been extremely stressful full of things that I’ve absolutely had to get done, no excuses, it has also been a happy week.
Saturday I won the Advanced Western Horsemanship class at the show my school put on, and Sunday I won Novice Western Horsemanship Regionals… I think I’m more excited about the fact that I won a belt buckle instead of the fact that I won regionals. But whatever… the buckle is sitting on my windowsill so it can sparkle in the sun… a little.
I also got my itinerary for my Australia trip this summer, which can be read by all here. Basically I got excited about the fact that we’re trekking through the outback – a part of Australia I never saw the first time I went. Southern Australia will be cold in the mornings and afternoons in July, but that’s okay – I’ll hopefully end my trip in Brisbane where it’ll be warm and sunny.
I got a phone call from my summer bosses who run the horse show photography company asking me if I wanted to work fro them this summer. Basically I freaked out and said “Hell Yeah” while typing an e-mail to them with my summer schedule. Seriously, that summer job is better than your summer job.
OH! OH! AND DON’T FORGET! I’m running my first stoneware firing on Sunday. It’s an all day job, and I’ll be hanging out in the clay studio for, like, 16 hours while this thing goes on, but I’ve persuaded friends to come and visit. This and I’ll have time to work on my paper due Thursday. But yeah… clay firings are awesome and expect to see photos up during the day from my phone here and on facebook.
Well, that was an overloaded entry for not writing in such a long time. I guess I’ll head back to doing what I’m actually supposed to be doing and actually get some homework done.

P.S. That photo was taken after an intramural soccer game.

What can I say? The semester is reaching it’s halfway mark. Two weeks from Friday a friend and I will be leaving for Savannah and Florida for a week. What I want to know is this: how did this semester suddenly fly by?!
I’ve been working… a lot. While I’m making decent money for a full time student, I’m also going just slightly crazy – two jobs (one of which I’m a supervisor for) while writing two papers (one of which is a for serious thesis) while going to class and getting good grades while on the equestrian team is really showing my limits. I think that when I’m old and have a real grown-up job one of these days, I’ll always be able to look back at this semester and be like “Danielle, don’t be lazy… you did more in college than you’ll probably do ever again.” Or something like that.
I’ve been going so incredibly crazy that I’ve had no time for art, despite the fact that I’m in two or three (I really can’t remember right now) studio classes. I really hope to get some stuff completed and up as soon as I possibly can.
So… in preparation for the upcoming trip to Florida and Savannah, here is a picture my cousin took of my friend JC and I while we were visiting in September last semester.

What I want to know is how this much rain can be going through Georgia once a week when one to two years ago, we were in a HUGE drought.
Weather Channel, please change the weather predictions so it is warm and sunny in northwestern Georgia.
Thank You.
