Senior-itis

I’ve turned to my blog as a result of my procrastination problems. It’s my last semester of undergraduate school ever. Basically, when December gets here and I get my diploma, I’ll be free. Free from the clutches of the education system in America.
Classes this semester are interesting. I need motivation to actually get stuff done, though. I mean, who wouldn’t choose riding horses and playing in darkrooms and ceramics studios over studying Criminology. I MEAN REALLY!
Criminology isn’t really all that bad. At least I don’t think it will be. We’re covering that philosophical, standard you-must-know-this-to-understand-the-rest crap right now. Seriously, if one more guy’s name pops up in the book, it’ll be on the other side of the library I’m sitting in right now with a very large bullet hole through the middle.
I’m also taking Intro to Agriculture which is basically like my 9th grade biology class, War Crimes and Genocide which makes you feel really disappointed in all humanity every Tuesday night, and Lacrosse on top of my senior thesis. I would rather be redesigning my website and devoting more time to my photography show in December than reading text books, but whatever.
Senior show is on 2 December, by the way. I start shooting on Friday. SQUEE!
Other than this, I’m still trying to read FUN books, re-watch Firefly yet again, start planning my family’s trip to Scandinavia this summer, and try to figure out when the bloody hell my friend and I are going to peace out on our road trip to try to write a book. It will all happen, because, well, I want it to. So yeah.
Been throwing a lot too so expect pictures of stuff in the near future. I’m either going to try to sell it at our student art sale or on Etsy. Or both. So come back to stay informed.

Monday, August 23rd, 2010I still live, I promise. Between catching up desperately on the Australia blog (which is getting there, really…) and just starting my last semester of school, I feel bad for this place. It needs to paid attention to, poor thing.
Good news is, is that it’s soccer season at school, so I’ll have some athletic photos to post! YAY!
In other news, I have lacrosse this morning at 9am. Score.

Monday, May 3rd, 2010**I’ve finally worked out a logical subscription service to any of those who would like to subscribe to this blog and get emails when it’s updated. Look to your right for a link**
I’m done with school… ’till August! It’s weird to think that I’ve only got one semester left as an undergraduate college student and that I’ll actually be graduating and getting that crazy BA degree. WEIRD I TELL YOU!
Needless to say, I don’t have to go back to school until next semester, but I’m still not done. All of my friends have finals this week – I don’t. The only classes I was supposed to have finals in were classes with critiques in which the professor decided not to have a final critique, or I was able to opt out of the exam because I was happy enough with my grade. I still have a couple of projects to complete for my digital imaging class as well as the rest of my term paper to write for my early 20th century art class. This all isn’t so bad though… I’ll be able to finish that paper in about two hours before proofreading it and sending it off.
The end of my semester this past week was INSANE!!!!! We had five firings in the ceramics studio so all the students could have some sort of work to present for their final critique. If you don’t know much about clay firings, we’ve got to watch the kilns all bloody day long so no one gets burned and so nothing bad happens while they’re firing. As we start at 7am and end anywhere between 8pm and 2am, you can imagine how tired we get during just one firing. Now multiply that BY FIVE PEOPLE! Really, though, it’s fun and we always get a good group of people to come around in the evenings to keep ourselves entertained.
Tomorrow I’m heading down to Florida to see my crazy cousins. I’ll be outside of Jacksonville for a while and plan to head down to Miami for a couple of days before driving back up to New York in bits and pieces. Expect one of my lame maps to pop up at some point… it’ll be fun! Haha.
Anyway, expect updates more and more as I’m officially free! I’ll have many photos from my adventures and will direct you towards my crazy times in Australia and beyond.

Monday, May 3rd, 2010For a project at school and of my own, here are four images from, well, a whole bunch of a commercial fashion spread that I had been wanting to do for a long time. Thanks to my model, Allie, and my artistic/makeup/hair director, Caysie.

Thursday, March 25th, 2010So… I’ve been thinking a lot about my senior thesis that I’ve got to present, hang, and do all that fun stuff for this upcoming November-ish time. Really, I wish I had a whole year to work on this and wish that the school would give me a grant or something so I could really do what I would absolutely LOVE to do… which is get in my car, drive across the country, take pictures of almost everything and journal about it then work my journal into my statement.
I’ve wanted to go on a solo cross country road trip since, well, forever. But really this blog inspired me to really do it while I’m basically uncommitted to work, people, etc. Vespa Vagabond is a blog that is written by the same woman who updates The Daily Coyote. Really, just looking at her photographs and reading about what she experienced is enough to make almost anyone want to go on an adventure. I just couldn’t do it on a Vespa because I’m too much of a wuss when it comes to cold and I’ve never driven anything motorcycle-esque before. And I would like to take a few more items of clothing and a few more cameras with me. Yeah, I’m not as hardcore.
But really, if I could pull that off for a thesis, that would be awesome. If I wasn’t already going on a super-fantastic trip to Australia this summer I totally would take that month and photograph as much as I could photograph. Really. But Australia presented itself at exactly the right time and I’m almost happier I’m going there.
Still, this does not resolve my problem concerning lack of senior thesis. I’ve thought about a few things but nothing has popped out so far. Below is a list of what I’ve been pondering over (loosely and specifically) and I would definitely appreciate any suggestions or ideas if anyone out there has any!

Tomorrow is the start of the last college spring break I will ever have! While I wish I was cruising down to Mexico with some of my friends, I’m glad I opted for the more laid back, driving option that presented itself earlier in the semester. My friend, Elissa, and I are driving down to Savannah for a couple of days to see a friend who graduated last year. On Sunday we will be driving down to Florida to see my cousin, Liz.
While I’m not quite sure what’s going to be going on this next week, I’m excited to bask in some sunshine and relax on the beach. I know the water won’t be warm enough to swim in, but that’s okay… IT’S THE BEACH!
I thought I would post while I had the chance. Two quizzes today in my Light Media and Digital Imaging classes, a test tomorrow in Abnormal Psychology, and a part of a thesis paper due on Sunday… my brain is basically going crazy right now!
Expect a post or two, possibly, this upcoming week. I’m sure there will be more photos than one would know what to do with. I also have some artwork I need to post eventually… I just need to get it scanned and/or photographed.
Anyone up to anything fun this upcoming week?
